APSU President Timothy Hall, athletics director Dave Loos and Govs football head coach Rick Christiophel are currently on tour. However, they have not formed a new musical trio and hit the road singing about life at APSU. Instead, these three are spreading the word about APSU, including the 2008 Govs football season.

Hall, Loos and Christophel are participating in a Traveling Tailgate Party sponsored by Austin Peay Alumni Relations, the Athletics Department and University Advancement.

Nikki Loos Peterson of Alumni Relations helped organize this tour which invites alumni and friends to stay connected with the APSU community.

"Our purpose is to create awareness, not only for Austin Peay athletics, but Austin Peay as a whole," Peterson said. "We provide a general what is going on around campus, what is going on in athletics and the football program."

The Traveling Tailgate Party began in Memphis, Tenn., May 20 at Cafe Ole. It was the first of eleven scheduled stops. The tour has traveled as far as Tampa, Fl. Sunday, June 1 and will conclude in Columbia, Tenn. Thursday, June 19. Attendance at any of the stops is free for APSU alumni and friends. No RSVP is necessary.

A complete list of dates and locations can be found by clicking on the Traveling Tailgate Party link at www.LetsGoPeay.com. The Alumni Relations Office can also be reached to answer any questions at (931) 221-7979 or 1 (800) 264-2586.

The party is a casual mix and mingle event with food and drinks being served. Alumni are encouraged to reconnect with each other as well as APSU. It is also an opportunity for those unable to travel to Clarksville, Tenn. to meet President Hall and coach Cristophel, both recent additions to APSU.

Although Hall, Loos and Christophel will not attend every stop on the tour, they look forward to possibly creating new fans of APSU.

"I never pass up the opportunity to talk with our alumni about all the good things happening at Austin Peay, not just things happening in connection with our athletics program," Hall said. "Our alumni and athletic departments are leading the drive to help our alumni stay connected with the university. One of the things that make the university great is that great ideas, like this one, are constantly being developed by our staff."
