With a 32-0 playoff victory over the New England Intensity, the Clarksville Fox women's semi-pro football team is set to face the Montreal Blitz in the Independent Women's Football League's (IWFL) Tier Two Championship game in Chicago July 26.
However, the Fox need some help to get to Chicago. To raise money for their championship trip, the Fox are is hosting a golf tournament.
The "Fox Hunt Golf Scramble" will be held July 19 at the Swan Lake Golf Course. The scramble will feature 18 groups of four players and is scheduled to have a "shotgun" start at 8 a.m.
The cost is $50 per player and includes green fees and cart. Sign up begins July 12. Participants can sign up at Swan Lake Golf Course or by contacting Rob Brown (information at bottom).
In addition to golfers, the Fox is also looking for sponsors for each of the 18 holes. For $500 a person or business can sponsor a hole and a sign displaying the sponsor will be posted at their hole. In addition, sponsors may have a representative present at their hole to give away business cards or gifts to the golfers in the scramble.
For those who cannot participate in the golf tournament, the Fox welcomes all donations. They can be made online at www.TheClarksvilleFox.com. Information about other ways to donate is available at the Web site as well.
The Clarksville Fox wants to bring the IWFL Tier Two Championship to Clarksville. Tennessee State Sen. Joe Pitts and Montgomery County Mayor Carolyn Bowers are just a couple of the people helping the team with this goal. The "Fox Hunt Golf Scramble" will provide an opportunity for others to join the long list of Clarksville Fox supporters.
