The faculty senate will had a meeting in the University Center room 307 Thurs., March 27. President Timothy Hall, and interim provost David Deaton, were both at a Tennessee Board of Regents (TBR) meeting that day.



Student Funds

Faculty Senator Tim Winters encouraged all of the staff to write something for the student success funds. President Hall wants specific reports from administrators at APSU, and to see his programs for student success to move forward. Any amount of students from any department is able to be awarded these fund. The deadline for submissions will be Tues., April 8.



Academic council

The department of communication passed a new minor in popular culture and weather broadcasting passed, as well as a new concentration in sports broadcasting. Also the chair of the faculty handbook may become a permanent member of the academic council.



Dean's Council

The director of research, Jennifer Kennedy, will be extended for a year, than a permanent replacement will be chosen. President Hall came to the dean's council as well as Denton, who was asked about Dean's Council role. Winters clarified it., Hhe said that they talk about the flow of power on campus. President Hall established this to simplify work on campus.



2008 Senate Elections

The faculty senate is now accepting nominations for new positions. Twelve seats are open. The search for the provost should be finished by graduation. Those interested may print the nomination form off on the faculty senate website http://www.apsu.edu/senatef/index.htm. It must be turned into Loretta Griffy by Thurs, April 10, 2008

The faculty senate continues their service to APSU, and dealing with problems seen by President Hall as well as other administrators. The next faculty senate meeting will be Thurs., April 3, at 3:00p.m. in which they will talk about the new faculty handbook.
