Fantasy Football Journal: I am 0-1

Issue date: 9/19/07 Section: Sports
Popcorn, pizza, chips and chicken wings, these are a few of my favorite things to eat while watching football. As Sunday progressed in week one of the NFL season I needed all the comfort food I could find because my team went down in flames.
Apparently, no one on the Rams defense covered Steve Smith the whole game. In addition, my primary weapon, Steven Jackson, not only failed to score, but also fumbled twice.
My wide receivers were outscored 58 -11 because Eli Manning threw so many touchdowns to Plaxico Burress that he hurt his shoulder.
Most of my points came from the San Diego Chargers defense who manhandled the Chicago Bears.
Resisting the urge to hurt myself, I accepted my week one loss and prepared to bounce back in week two.
*Detailed week 1 results below*
The first thing I did was drop the New Orleans saints defense and Raiders wide receiver Jerry Porter to do some shopping on the free agent list.
I picked up wide receivers Wes Welker and Ronald Curry. They both put up decent numbers in week one. I expect Marques Colston and Jerricho Cotchery to have a better game in week two.
Unfortunately, I am worried about my Rams offensive players since they lost Orlando Pace. Steven Jackson is going to still get the touches (if he does not fumble) but Marc Bulger may be running for his life instead of throwing the ball. It may be time to insert my backup Phillip Rivers.
The Chiefs looked horrible in week one and they are facing the Bears in week two. Tony Gonzalez is getting benched. Hello Heath Miller (yeah Steelers!).
Marion Barber III has officially earned the number two running back spot.
The strongest players on my opponent's team this week is quarterback Jake Delhomme, wide receiver Reggie Wayne and running back Cedric Benson.
I expect to be 1-1 next week. If the Rams choke again, I apologize in advance for the colorful adjectives that may appear in next week's journal.
