Most of us know them as the cute boy band that sang that song "MmmBop." Others just know them as the band with one of the youngest singers since Michael Jackson. Whatever you thought about Hanson, it is about to change. Hanson has surprisingly made a strong comeback.

Hanson kicked off their tour The Walk at the Wildhorse Saloon Monday September 7th. Hanson's brilliant performance went beyond the expectations of anyone who is not a typical Hanson fan. In the past we have known Hanson's music to be what fan Melissa Dockley describes as "catchy". Contrary to popular belief, Hanson has grown from a successful "boy band" to serious and highly respected singer songwriters. Some have gone as far as labeling them an indie-rock band. Hanson's music and new album, The Walk, reflects their early influences like Elvis and the Beach Boys, and is partnered with lyrics that reflect their "walk" of life.

Fan Sarah Shepherd stated that Hanson's transition didn't surprise her. "The more you write the more you grow and the better it gets. I love their new sound".
As a singer songwriter and a hard core fan she surely can relate to the way Hanson's music grew into what it has become now. Liz Vancey agreed with Sarah. "They were so young, and they have been able to grow over the years."

In addition to promoting their new album The Walk, Hanson is dedicated to spreading the message for the fight against poverty and HIV/AIDS in Africa. The album features the song Great Divide. This song is dedicated purely to the fight. Hanson traveled to Africa, not only to record this single with the children's choir, but also to spend time at an orphanage in Mozambique. The "Great Divide" is available on itunes. All proceeds from downloading the "Great Divide" will go to support Hanson's efforts in Africa.

Hanson is also having a mile walk prior to the concerts to raise awareness to the fight against poverty and HIV/AIDS.

Hanson also teamed up with Toms shoes to benefit the children in Africa. For every pair of Toms shoes sold on their tour, a pair of shoes will be donated from Toms shoes to a child in Africa. You can pick up a pair at any show during The Walk tour or you can purchase them online. Hanson's goal is to sell 50,000 pairs of shoes during this tour.
